AUSTIN, Texas (October 20, 2025)—The 2025 Texas Nuclear Summit, hosted by the Texas Nuclear Alliance (TNA), Friday concluded a three-day gathering of industry, government, academia, and regulators focused on advancing nuclear energy and establishing Texas as a national leader in deploying and exporting nuclear technology.

Taking place in downtown Austin, just minutes from the Texas Capitol, this year’s Texas Nuclear Summit included keynote remarks from Texas Governor Greg Abbott and expert panels of industry leaders discussing the industry’s most emergent issues. Distinguished speakers included State Representatives Cody Harris and Drew Darby, Former Texas Governor and Former U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office Director Jarred Shaffer, Public Utility Commission of Texas Chairman Thomas Gleeson, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Chairwoman Brooke Paup, Nuclear Energy Institute President and CEO Maria Korsnick, and executive leadership from top nuclear innovators.

“In the past year, Texas has moved decisively from vision to action. Governor Abbott has called for Texas to lead a nuclear renaissance in the United States, and the Legislature has directly invested nearly $500 million into the nuclear industry,” said TNA President Reed Clay. “This momentum was on clear display at this year’s Texas Nuclear Summit, which welcomed a record 700+ attendees – a clear sign that Texas has become the gathering place for those serious about rebuilding America’s nuclear future.”

“As the Texas economy continues to grow, the lifeblood of every business increasingly depends upon affordable, reliable power,” said Governor Abbott. “To power our future, Texas must be the epicenter for nuclear power generation. Altogether, we have amassed the resources, infrastructure, and the strategy to be able to advance the nuclear renaissance here in the state of Texas.”

“Across Texas, advanced reactor projects are moving forward, universities are training the next generation of nuclear engineers, and private companies are investing in technologies that promise to redefine clean, reliable power,” continued Clay. “This year’s Summit is about building on that success – leveraging the momentum we’ve created while leaning into the obstacles that remain. This year’s program is about ensuring that we focus on executing – turning clear vision into undeniable reality – and understanding that this may be our last best chance to fulfill the promise of nuclear power.”

Highlights from the Summit include:

  • Commercialization & Market Readiness: moving technologies from demonstration to deployment
  • Regulatory & Policy Strategy: streamlining licensing, legislation, and state support
  • Supply Chain & Workforce Scaling: addressing construction, materials and talent challenges
  • Integration with AI & Data Demand: positioning nuclear as a backbone for high-energy load infrastructure
  • Energy & National Security: emphasizing nuclear’s role in resilience, sovereign fuel supply, and defense
  • Texas as a Hub: highlighting Texas’ leadership role, institutional projects and those in the queue

About the Texas Nuclear Alliance
TNA is the only industry association in Texas dedicated to the advancement of nuclear technology in the state. TNA was formed with a singular mission: to make Texas the Nuclear Capital of the World. Formed in 2022 in the aftermath of Winter Storm Uri, TNA is based on the fundamental premise that if Texas and the world want low-carbon, reliable energy, it can no longer turn its back on nuclear energy. Nuclear is clean, safe, reliable, and secure.
